В 1773 году Словарь Французской академии объяснял слово «кастрат» (саstrato) так:
«Мужчина, оскопленный таким способом, чтобы его голос был сходен с женским или детским.
Кастратов много в Италии».

In 1773 the french academy defined a castrato as a man whose testicles were scraped in order for his voice to sound like that of a woman or a child. There are many a castrato in Itlay.

high desert [23 May 2009|12:18pm]
[ mood | can't wait ]

the wind just gusted in and turned the fan around and around
the breeze machine and its' inspiration had an interaction.
i found an apple in my underwear drawer.

your jawline makes me want to trace it with my tongue all day in public
let's go to the zoo as soon as possible, right now

more Marienbad [04 Mar 2009|09:47pm]

Patrons received programs with three pages of explanation that began, “The film you are about to see will, in all probability, upset every normal viewing habit you have formed.”

“The meaning is not imposed on you,” it continued, “but rather, with a respect for your intelligence that is uncommon in the cinema, your collaboration is required to complete your personal understanding.”

кто здесь? [04 Mar 2009|08:21pm]
обращение к кинофилам и знатокам  "нового романа"  &  Cahier du Cinema:

доела остатки ужина с вкусными друзьями из materials & applications (they are building a kinetic origami landscape!)

[ mood | excellent ]
[ music | culver city traffic ]

i am spending the night at the Jurassic Museum of Technology
sleeping in Roger Brown's trailer, the Spartan
i live in Los Angeles under the sky punctuated by upside-down exclamation points/ palms
that lean in the direction of the wind.

few weeks ago i watched "los angeles plays itself"
i sat behind thom andersen and his woman
whom he kissed sloppily on the cheek;
in the dark of the theatre i wrote down the names of the films that featured the shots of the landscapes, the views of this city
with a pencil that broke unbeknownst to me, two and a half hours of blank pages
how can one use fiction to illuminate fact?

i am learning the art of tuning pianos
fall asleep on a low narrow bed that is covered in plastic not as symbol of my academic asceticsm
in state of vernacular disconnect

i did not sleep on monday
became incoherent on top of the hill at sunrise,
climbed a tree in a paper owl costume and purposefully hooted for 15 minutes around 9 am,
then drank whiskey and saw "brothers of the head"

met fulton and pepe
they are quite famous, apparently
but nice people
stumbled upon a schnittke violin duet
and later a dance performance that involved numerous baguettes

talked to the fallen fruit collective guy, built an interactive drawer
made a magnetic board live animation/puppetshow

found this note to myself:
1) endless pig
mechanised greens-revel in
extra legs
"oh the shape of my house, how can i enter you?"
"with a tongue under a table, how can i amuse you, my friend?"

the popularity of shoes in contemporary toy theatre- groundless gravity/achiless heel

i am in a noh puppet production at Velaslavasay Panorama
it's called "Frankenstein: Mortal Toys"

physician Edith

serious architecture indeed
entirely of glass and steel. His

client fell in love with her architect
not? Unmarried,
everything an educated woman could wish; charming, well-dressed in his Knize suits, huge expanses of glass

No one alive knows exactly what sensitive architect does with an intelligent house.

zinc chromate primer,
baked enamel.
glass walls
uncontrolled

he began to be unavailable to Edith FFFarnsworth Was it cooling of
Did he have other building with no physical imperfections anywhere, else?

architecture as lens
at night,
is one huge mosquito and moth lantern. The floods filled the house

some thoughts [22 Jul 2007|11:37pm]
[ mood | thoughtful ]

+exactly a month since i left San Francisco

+i like windows, especially windows through which you can see more windows (or the street on the other side of the building)
+spectacles and clocks can exchange certain parts
+objects for which glass is a necessary condition are thought-provoking

here in Belarus i am fond of taking evening walks by whichever river i am by
it often happens to be the favorite locale for pubescent beings to congregate and act sexy

a funny sight,
it flung me to the allegoric height
of drawing this:
